My Son and I

Yesterday, I wanted to reverse my car and all of the sudden this kid rode his bike behind my car. Luckily step on the break just in the nick of time, which for me it was like Jason Bourne all over again. Anyway, I chase after the kid and the high-speed chase of 80 meters ended with me stopping my car behind his bike. I scolded the kid and the first question was “siapa bapak kamu” a standard Malay question in the 60 ‘s and 70’s. The kid kept quiet and his only answer was name, rank and serial number... (Seriously, he didn’t say anything). His friend who saw the whole thing ask him to apologize to me which he did and I told him “kurang ajar” but the truth this is happening all over in Malaysia. Young boys don’t respect older generation and they just don’t know what to say if they are wrong. I have kids pull the chair that is near my table without asking... and off course I shouted at the kid... but that is not the solution isn’t it..

I was advising my son and I told him that if he doesn’t listen to me, he is going to regret it. I told him stop wasting time as Allah SWT doesn’t like people who waste time and I recite to him the verse Al Asr..

Surat Al-`Aşr (The Declining Day) -

By time, 103:1
Indeed, mankind is in loss, 103:2
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. 103:3

I told my Son that he has to study and he has to study hard because the world is tough and it is getting tougher and only the fittest and hardworking will survive and those lazy ones will have to depend on others and that is definitely not easy.  I ask my son to work hard and pray to ALLAH SWT and seek for ALLAH SWT’s guidance and help for only ALLAH SWT can help mankind on what he wishes. So I told him that he must read and recited the verse Al Alaq...

Surat Al-`Alaq (The Clot)

Recite in the name of your Lord who created – 96:1
Created man from a clinging substance. 96:2
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous – 96:3
Who taught by the pen – 96:4
Taught man that which he knew not. 96:5
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 96:6
Because he sees himself self-sufficient.96:7
Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 96:8
Have you seen the one who forbids 96:9
A servant when he prays? 96:10
Have you seen if he is upon guidance 96:11
Or enjoins righteousness? 96:12
Have you seen if he denies and turns away -96:13
Does he not know that Allah sees? 96:14
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock – 96:15
A lying, sinning forelock. 96:16
Then let him call his associates; 96:17
We will call the angels of Hell. 96:18
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah ]. 96:19

My Son as blur as he can be at times didn’t give any facial expression at all. All my Psych Ops training couldn’t get into his mind to figure out what he wants, his beliefs, what motivate him, his inspiration etc. All I know he is inspired by his PSP and Upin and Ipin (so is his brother).

What is happening to kids these days?? What is happening to them being self-motivated?? Girls are better student do you agree?? I don’t think so but many will disagree. Mana pi semua budak lelaki ni?? Seriously budak lelaki ni tak penat penat sms benda cinta kat budak pompuan and end up the girls got thru and the boys works in the house asking parents for money.. Is this the current state ke?? Was our time the same?? I wonder??

Coming back to my Son.. I am starting on the mental analysis now and trying to do research on the way this kid thinks.. Maybe my training doesn’t prepare me for this but with a little help from the Al-Mighty maybe just maybe I can dig out something soon but as for now that is the status quo.

  1. What would you do/say IF you heard a lil kid saying this:
SAYA SOLAT SEBAB BAPA SAYA BKN SBB ALLAH.

Just asking and wanted to know your point of view.

  2. There are a few details that I would like to know though before I give my comments. Firstly how old is this kid? Secondly, is he being force? How hard does his father forcing him?

I'm for one supports praying and instead of arguing with the kid maybe need to justify the purpose of us being in this world, why are we created etc... Knowing Allah would be better than knowing his father..

I tell my son more about Allah SWT than myself because once they know Allah than they will want to know about their parents.

What a pity when an old man celebrating birthday in a golf course with his friends.. Yup ..his wife told him alah orang tua ni buang tabiat ke nak birthday birthday... Is just good to know more before engaging my mouth and fingers engine and cylinders

  3. And my dear siti if that kid is my son than I am still not doing a good job about educating him on Allah... So tough at times but the surroundings also plays an important role in educating the young about Allah.. But then again I myself is still learning but heck that's the beauty of it we are all learning together with kids...

Geez isn't it tough that life isn't what the kids perceive it to be... Oops sorry it is not what it perceive to be for me too... There are always a way out though just pack the boys and off they go to Yemen..... Hahaha easy way out.... Seriously which parents know what to do exactly... When the world outside is so challenging .
